# Put your QR code to work

Where a partner QR code earns its keep: print placements, in-person moments, and on-screen spots viewers can scan with a phone.

Updated August 27, 2026

## The idea

A QR code is for someone else's camera, not your own screen. On your website, a link is always better. The QR code shines everywhere a link cannot be clicked: paper, packaging, a stage, a video frame, a face-to-face conversation.

## Where it works

**In print and on objects:**

- Counter cards and table tents at a shop, market stall, or event table.
- The back of your business cards.
- Inserts in packages, books, and printed newsletters.
- Booth signage at fairs and expos.
- Stickers and merch.

**On stage and on screen:**

- The closing slide of a talk. Leave it up during questions; that is when people reach for their phones.
- A lower-third overlay during video ad reads, or a dedicated scene in OBS if you stream.
- Inside a YouTube video itself. Viewers can scan the frame even where outbound links are limited, so the code travels with the video wherever it is embedded.

**In person:**

- Your phone lock screen, ready whenever a conversation turns to preparedness.
- The fullscreen mode on the Promote page: tap it, hold your phone out, and let them scan. It fills the screen with a clean, high-contrast code.
- The printable one-pager, which pairs the code with your name and short instructions. Print a few and keep them where conversations happen.

## Make every placement measurable

Give each printed placement its own campaign tag before downloading. A code tagged `c=counter-card` and one tagged `c=book-insert` report separately in your by-campaign table, so you learn which physical placements actually convert instead of guessing. Untagged QR scans report under the `qr` tag.

Print is worth this care because you cannot edit it after the fact. Thirty seconds of tagging before you send a file to the printer buys you months of clean data.

## Download formats

- **PNG** is print-resolution and works everywhere. Use it for cards, inserts, slides, and anything you print yourself.
- **SVG** is a vector file for designers. It scales to any size without losing sharpness, which matters for banners and large signage.

Before committing to a big print run, scan a test print with a couple of different phones. It takes a minute and catches sizing or contrast problems while they are still free to fix.
